The Neighborhood Alert Program gathers citizens into a neighborhood group, where they learn crime prevention techniques from police officers. Neighbor helps neighbor in an anti-crime network.
Through Neighborhood Alert you can learn how to make your home, possessions and family less likely to be victimized by crime and make your neighborhood and city safer for you and less desirable for criminals. When you hold additional Neighborhood Alert meetings, police officers will attend if invited and discuss with residents the current crime situations and the best methods for preventing neighborhood crimes.

We Need Your Help
It is not financially possible to maintain a police officer on every street, nor is it practical. It is the job of the police to apprehend criminals and it is your job to help prevent crime by practicing intelligent, preventive measures. The occurences of crime begin to drop when we start working together. The Neighborhood Alert program has proved to be an effective weapon against crime in many other cities and it can be as effective in Cliffton. It's your choice - get involved with Neighborhood Alert.
How do you start a Neighborhood Alert Program?
It's simple to set up a Neighborhood Alert group. The only requirement is that your neighborhood be within the city limits of Cliffton. All you have to do is talk to your neighbors and arrange a place and time for a first meeting. Then contact the Crime Prevention Unit and we will arrange the date for an officer to visit your first meeting and brief your group. Neighborhood Alert doesn't require frequent meetings - once a month is usually the maximum. It also doesn't ask that anyone take any personal risks to prevent crime. What the program does try and achieve is high representation of participating neighbors in the Alert area.
